This is the first payment academy of its kind in the region and focuses on software development and security, for Web, mobile, POS terminals, and ATMs. The training runs for 4 to 6 months and is conducted by experts from Tracom Services and technology partners who ensure that they expose the students to the best talent and technology thus equipping them with the necessary skills.
The training is more practical than theory-based as students work on “real life” projects that will be deployed and used for various uses such as revenue collection, payments, account opening, etc. The students are mentored by Tracom management and developers in the skill areas and talents that are identified during their time at the academy.
The goal of the academy is to bridge the skills gap that has led many fintech companies to outsource their software development to other countries. We have started with Kenya but we look forward to growing talents in the African region where we have a presence. We aim to develop local talent to code to solve local problems and eventually position them to drive innovations and use emerging technologies that will improve penetration and use of financial services and products in Africa and the rest of the world
